Club 509 and Pacific Campus have collaborated to bring the growingly popular MiLP TEAM event to the Summer Classic in addition to the singles and doubles events in a second weekend feature!

Tri-Cities, WA — Club 509 Pickleball announced today that it is collaborating with The Pacific Campus in Kennewick to bring the increasingly popular Minor League Pickleball (MiLP) four-person co-ed TEAM event to this year’s Summer Classic to be the first time back to back weekend event in Tri Cities pickleball history.

The 509 Summer Classic (presented by Pickleball Pen) will now be offering all of the major events in a tournament. Singles, Doubles, AND NOW the Team Event. Singles and Doubles will take place June 19–21 and feature traditional singles and doubles competition with a $25,000 prize pool, hosted at CBRC Health & Fitness. The newly added MiLP Team Event will take place the following weekend, June 27–28, and will be hosted at The Pacific Campus.

By expanding to two weekends, the Summer Classic becomes one of the largest pickleball events in the region, offering both traditional tournament play and the rapidly growing team format.
“We are excited to bring the Tri-Cities pickleball community the best aspects of the sport within the Summer Classic,” said Doug Jones, President of Club 509 Pickleball. “With singles, doubles, and now the co-ed team event, players will have more opportunities than ever to compete and engage with the game.”
The MiLP Team Event introduces a fast-paced, team-based competition structure modeled after the rapidly growing Major League Pickleball format. Teams compete head-to-head using a lineup-driven system that emphasizes strategy, teamwork, and fan engagement—offering a unique experience compared to traditional tournament play.

“The MiLP Team Event allows us to showcase pickleball in a completely different way,” said Damon Little, Director of Pickleball at The Pacific Campus. “By hosting it as a separate weekend event with its own venue and registration, we can fully embrace the team format while continuing to deliver the high-quality singles and doubles tournament players expect from the 509 Summer Classic.”
Jones added that the expansion also allows organizers to highlight multiple event formats without overcrowding a single weekend.

The Summer Classic is supported by regional pickleball partners including CBRC Health & Fitness, The Pacific Campus, and The Pickleball Pen, which plans to break ground later this year on a proposed 18-court indoor pickleball facility in Richland’s Spaulding Business Park.

“It’s exciting to see the leading pickleball organizations and facilities in the Tri-Cities working together for the benefit of the community,” Jones said.
